Terms and conditions for Presentations


Act of October 8

 

The members of the Technical Committee responsible for the selection of the works submitted to the Nineteenth Pan American Child Congress –the main theme of which is “The Family: Basis for the Integral Development of Children and Adolescents– met at 11:00 AM on October 8, 2004 at the headquarters of the Inter-American Children’s Institute, Av. 8 de Octubre No. 2904 in the city of Montevideo, Republic of Uruguay.  

The meeting was attended by Mr. Alejandro Bonasso, Director General of the IIN and Chairman of the Committee; the General Coordinator of the Congress on behalf of the IIN, Julio Rosenblatt; the Coordinator of the IIN Legal Program, Piero Solari, and the Coordinator of the IIN Program for the Integral Promotion of Children’s Rights, Gustavo Forselledo. The main purpose of the meeting was to set forth the final list of winners who will deliver their presentations at the Pan American Child Congress.  

Pursuant to the outcome of the selection process, the winners who will deliver their presentations at the Nineteenth Pan American Child Congress, the main theme of which is “The Family: Basis for the Integral Development of Children and Adolescents, are:

FIRST PLACE: Work No. 41 by CARMEN VASQUEZ DE VELAZCO, “From Children’s Perspective, the Family Transcends the Crisis of Separation or Divorce.” Country: PERU.  

SECOND PLACE: Work No. 28 by LORETO DITZEL LACOA AND PROFESSIONALS FROM THE RIGHT PROTECTION DEPARTMENT, “Supporting the Primary Responsibilities of the Family: The Focal Point of the SENAME Reform.” Country: CHILE 

Sub-theme 4: 

FIRST PLACE: Work No. 2 by ANA MARÍA ABEL and FLORENCIA BELTRÁN, “The Doctrine of Integral Protection and Current Family Law.” Country: URUGUAY 

SECOND PLACE: Work No. 11 by TATIANA ORDEÑANA SIERRA, “Children and Adolescents: From Citizenship to Family.” Country: ECUADOR.

FIRST PLACE: Work No. 18 by GABRIELA PAULA MAGISTRIS, “Parental Responsibility and the Perception of the Child as a Holder of Rights: Tensions and Consistencies.” Country: ARGENTINA. 

SECOND PLACE: Work No. 1 by ENRIQUETA FERNÁNDEZ FERNÁNDEZ, “New Family Paradigms or New Roles of the Social Development Institutions.” Country: MEXICO.

PRIMER PUESTO: Work No. 17 by LUIS ALBERTO ARISTA MONTOYA, “Middle Class Families and Systemic Imperatives (as per Jurgen Habermas’ Theory).” Country: PERU. 

SECOND PLACE: Work No. 38 by JUAN PIAGGIO, “Child Appropriation during the 1976/1983 Argentine Dictatorship.” Country: ARGENTINA.

GROUP III: 

Sub-theme 5: 

FIRST PLACE: Work No. 23 by PATRICIA ESCOBAR and ALBA LUCÍA MARÍN, “Family Violence and its Impact on Child Development.” Country: COLOMBIA. 

SECOND PLACE: Work No. 20 by ANDREA GREIG, “Nobody´s Perfect”. Country: CANADA. 

Sub-theme 6: 

FIRST PLACE: Work No. 21 by GABRIELA SCHREINER, “Protective and Supportive Network for Family Life.” Country: BRAZIL. 

SECOND PLACE: Work No. 39 by GERMÁN GUAJARDO MÉNDEZ, “The ANAR Phone Number and its Contribution to a Culture of Respect for Children’s Rights in Peru.” Country: PERU. 

The Technical Committee responsible for the selection of the works to be presented at the Nineteenth Pan American Child Congress, the main theme of which is “The Family: Basis for the Integral Development of Children and Adolescents, wishes to place on record that the quality of most submitted works has not reached the expected academic level.  

The Technical Committee hereby agrees to inform the Administration of the Inter-American Institute accordingly, for the implementation of the relevant proceedings as provided for in the terms and conditions concerning the travel and stay of the winners mentioned in this Act, as well as any other required coordination and steps to be taken.
